Press Release
For Immediate Release
Winner of Best Comedy & Best Editing “Saturday Morning” at Indie Fest USA 2007 was released on DVD March 3, 2009
With several problems creeping up on 1st time filmmaker Rob E Greenberg’s Saturday Morning has been picked up by Vivendi / Universal for DVD and was released March 3rd, 2009 at your favorite stores.
Garden Grove, CA (IFUEG) March 6, 2009 – Rob Greenberg must have thought “what have I gotten myself into” when after he finished filming his first film “Saturday Morning” and then one of his cast members was arrested for burglary that led to the murder of off-duty New York Police Officer Daniel Enchautegui. Brancato Jr. was later cleared of murder and last month and jailed for 10 years for the lesser charge of attempted burglary. Greenberg - whose brother-in-law is a New Jersey Police Officer, tells the New York Post, "I didn't want to promote or showcase Brancato. My brother-in-law is on the force. I felt absolutely horrible when I heard about (the killing). I just kept thinking about him, my sister, and especially my nephews." Alan told Indie Fest USA Entertainment Group “The incident occurred during the editing process, so the final cut was with Brancato’s already reduced role, and as previously reported I did not go back later on.”
Now this great romantic comedy “Saturday Morning” starring: Joey Piscopo, Valerie R. Feingold, Louis Mandylor, Ashley Carin, Beth Ostrosky, Victor Raider-Wexler, and George Wendt - Screenplay By: Rob E. Greenberg - Directed By: Rob E. Greenberg - Produced By: Rob E. Greenberg winner of Best Comedy and Best Editing Awards at Indie Fest USA 2007 was released on DVD March 3, 2009. You can find this great DVD at Hollywood Video and Movie Gallery, Amazon, Netflix, at Wal-Mart online, and Best Buy online.
Jillmarie “This movie had me laughing from the opening credits to the end credits. Rob Greenberg is a hot, young, up-and-coming filmmaker who is one to watch. Joey Piscopo was an excellent leading man with a knack for physical comedy. Louis Mandylor stole the show as his sidekick who gave him sage advice and had some very funny moments in the film. Veteran actor George Wendt did his part as the interesting, mysterious stranger who is in on the 6 - 8AM secret. The ending was left to one's own interpretation, and this is a film you'd watch over and over again because you know you will catch something new each time. What a unique concept and premise. This was a romantic comedy with a strong comedic element, and unlike most romantic comedies, it was not overly sappy. Both men and women will enjoy it equally. I look forward and anticipate seeing much more from this very talented filmmaker. Two very well-manicured thumbs up from me!”
Harpdude “I rarely tend to like comedies, but this one's an exception. Here's what it's got going for it: an immediately interesting premise that's reminiscent of the best comedy ever (Groundhog Day), a cast that's loads of fun to watch (especially the leading lady and the sidekick), many genuine laugh-out-loud moments that AREN'T stale jokes you've seen in movies before, and George Wendt in a hot and heavy make out scene with a girl a third his age. What's not to love? If you go to the movies or the video store to see comedies, you're guaranteed to get a huge kick out of this movie and foam at the mouth for the writer/director's next effort.” So what are these people talking about? Wes Selman (Joey Piscopo), a mild-mannered "suit," is not a morning person. A home renovation project forces him to leave his house at a time when he (and most of the world) is normally sleeping. Upon stepping outside, he discovers that on Saturday Mornings, for a two-hour window from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., the world becomes a "utopia." During this time, Wes can achieve nearly anything, including winning the affections of the woman of his dreams (Valerie R. Feingold), but only temporarily. With the help of his worldly best friend, Frankie Cicotelli (Louis Mandylor), Wes concocts a plan to carry romance into the rest of the week. However, the true key, Wes learns, may lie with a mysterious stranger (George Wendt).
Ray Gibb Vice President Event Development at Indie Fest USA Entertainment Group said, “It is great films like Saturday Morning that motivates Indie Fest USA Entertainment Group to produce Indie Fest USA. When you have a film that has been finished, and is deep in post-production almost done and not wanting to showcase an alleged cop killer do some creative editing to further reduce him but not lose anything, Screens and then wins, shows the true talents of the filmmakers we showcase. Working with Rob during this whole situation was a pleasure, and his vision never dwindled.”
Slave2Pix, “Very funny romantic comedy. Ahhh... if only life could be so easy. I don't want to give away too much only that it's a must-see.”
Showman007 “I'm rating this one just from the trailer. I'm really disappointed I could not see this film today. I cannot wait to see it!”
Krimdogg “Funny, sweet and entertaining. A great date movie. A very original screenplay with a somewhat predictable ending but nevertheless very entertaining. Excellent job for this first time director and writer. I'm sure we'll see more of him in the future. Two thumbs up!”
Saturday Morning was released on DVD March 3rd. Vivendi/Universal is putting the film out available online at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Netflix, and in your neighborhood Hollywood Video or Movie Gallery. Get your copy now.
